Narratives and profiles of food justice in Boyle Heights.
12th grade students in Mr. Lopez’s Food Justice elective class at Roosevelt High School studied the effects of limited access to quality, healthy food, and chronic health issues related to poor diet. Focusing on the food landscape of Boyle Heights, students wrote stories about how food disparities have affected them personally. In this book you will find narratives and essays ranging from changes students made to their diet as a result of the Food Justice class and how their own family histories of disease are directly related to food.
