Our lives comprise so many worlds within them: the world within ourselves, the world around us, and nowadays, the world online. In It Doesn’t Take Much to Become Famous These Days, Tuesday and Thursday Night Tutoring students at 826LA in Mar Vista explored all these different worlds through the lens of social media. They used the art of the selfie to explore how they and others see themselves, bravely revealing their inner selves. They took a long look at the world around them, capturing snapshots of both the good and the bad in their daily lives. And finally, in our last chapter, students turned to fiction to take a hard look at society’s obsession with social media and technology, and how that obsession can sometimes go too far. The pieces within this book are both poignant and hilarious, and they’re sure to make you think of social media in a new way.
